The heat-map displays Statistical Areal Level 2 (SA2) locations in Queensland, Australia colour coded by the IRSAD SEIFA score (see below). Upon selecting region/s, relevant data is pulled from various datasets and displayed.

Data Descriptions

Potentially Preventable Hospitalisations (PPH)

PPH are defined by the National Healthcare Agreement as Admission to hospital for a condition where the hospitalisation could have potentially been prevented through the provision of appropriate individualised preventative health interventions and early disease management... .

PPH details displayed in the modal have been supplied by CheckUP through the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and is represented at an SA3 level rather than the SA2 level that the map displays.

Socio-Economic Indexes for Areas (SEIFA)

SEIFA ranks areas in Australia according to relative socio-economic advantage and disadvantage . SEIFA ratings have been visually dispayed in the form of a bar graph for each SA2 region for greater understanding and allow correlation between regions and their communities.

Descriptions
IRSD: The Index of Relative Socio-Economic DisadvantageThe IRSD summary include measures of relative disadvantage on a range of information about the economic and social conditions of people and households within an area.
IRSAD: The Index of Relative Socio-Economic Advantage and DisadvantageThe IRSAD provides a summary of economic & social conditions of people and households; including both relative advantage and disadvantage measures.
IEO: The Index of Education and OccupationThe IEO Summarises and reflects the educational and occupational level of communities including the level of qualification achieved, or whether further education is being undertaken. The occupation variables classify the workforce into major groups and skill levels as well as the unemployed.
IER: The Index of Economic ResourcesThe IER is a summary focusing on the financial aspects of relative socio-economic advantage and disadvantage such as income and wealth. Index excludes education and occupation variables as they are not direct measures of economic resources. 

Percentage of Indigenous

The Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander population data for each SA2 region have been obtained from additional ABS resources. The chart has then been created by utilising the total SA2 population dataset alongside this Indigenous dataset.

Other SA2 details

Other SA2 region details displayed including the federal electorate, size, and population have been obtained from the ABS and are current as of 2016.
